Handle W-2 address errors in Philadelphia delivery jobs without assuming every correction goes to SSA

W-2 address errors in Philadelphia delivery jobs: distinguishing the employee-copy or delivery response from an unnecessary address-only SSA amendment.

Distinguish an address-only issue on an employee W-2 from an SSA amendment, and ask which employee-copy or delivery option the employer will use.

An old employee address on a W-2 can raise a delivery or employee-copy question without requiring the same correction route as an incorrect wage amount. For W-2 address errors in Philadelphia delivery jobs, identify the specific error before asking what happens next.

The IRS’s 2026 W-2 and W-3 instructions address this situation directly. If an employer already filed the W-2 with the Social Security Administration and all information other than the employee’s address is correct, the instructions say not to file a W-2c with SSA merely to correct that address.

Request an employee W-2 address correction

Where the address on the employee’s furnished W-2 is wrong, the employer must use one of the listed options. These include a new W-2 with the corrected address marked “REISSUED STATEMENT,” a W-2c showing the correct address, or reissuing the W-2 with the old address in an envelope with the correct address or otherwise delivering it to the employee.

The first two options in that address-only subsection specify that Copy A is not sent to SSA. A form labeled W-2c is therefore not, by itself, proof that an SSA correction was needed or submitted.

Ask which option is being used

Imagine a fictional former worker who receives a W-2 showing an old address. For this example, all other information is assumed correct and the employer already filed with SSA. The employer replies, “No SSA correction is needed.”

The worker can ask about the employee copy: “Which employee-copy option will you use for the address issue, and how will I receive it?” Keep the actual answer with the original form.

This example does not verify the accuracy of anyone’s wages, name or Social Security number. If another item is wrong, the narrow address-only assumption no longer describes the whole problem. Ask about that error separately instead of extending this subsection to it.

Reach the appropriate employer contact

Use the employer’s appropriate payroll contact and an authorized way to supply updated contact information. This guide does not collect addresses or tax documents. Avoid posting a full W-2 or identification number in a public message while seeking help.

For Amazon delivery-associate roles, the guide to identify the actual employer behind a delivery brand helps separate the hiring entity from the brand in the work. That identity question can help you locate the relevant employment contact; it does not decide the IRS correction route.

Also keep employment-record verification separate. A W-2 retained to support past employment facts has a different purpose from a request to resolve its employee-address issue.

Retain the original and the response

Keep your original form, the issue reported and the employee-copy or delivery response together. Do not label a reissued form as a wage correction unless the actual response supports that description.

The Philadelphia delivery-job guides cover other work and pay questions. This article does not tell you how to file a return, change withholding or handle another W-2 error. Confirm the employee-copy or delivery action even when an address-only SSA amendment is unnecessary.
